Duties and Responsibilities
Our consultants work in a variety of industries, so we seek individuals with curiosity and problem-solving abilities. We assist brand-name clients like American Airlines, Inc., Chevron Corporation, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Valero Energy Corporation, and other Fortune 1000 companies with the reduction of their tax burdens. Ryan & Company employees work with client databases, learn state tax laws, and communicate with clients and state auditors. Because we represent clients throughout North America, our consultants also travel about 30 to 35% of the time. Ryan & Company consultants and interns receive extensive training in state & local tax consulting because most students never take a course in this area.
Qualifications
Our employees exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to move ahead. We look for talented individuals with accounting and finance majors who seek responsibility and enjoy working to help build our Firm. As a consulting firm, we encourage employees to attain the CPA designation, but we do not require it for advancement. Qualified candidates will have a strong business background and a history of extracurricular activities and work experience. A 3.0 GPA and at least 12 hours of accounting are strongly preferred. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without restriction. Finance majors must have twelve hours of accounting.
