7-Eleven, Inc.
POSITION PURPOSE Prepares Federal or State and Local tax returns and payments as required on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for 7-Eleven, Inc. and approximately 3,500 franchisees. Interprets policies and procedures from Payroll Management Guide. Resolves tax problems and contacts appropriate government agencies or representatives regarding changes in tax reporting requirements and laws. Prepares Federal, state unemployment, state income tax filings and local tax returns. Annually reconciles Federal or State/Local deposits with W2 listings and sends necessary information to the appropriate tax authority.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepares federal or state/local tax returns for 7-Eleven, Inc. and/or its franchisees on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis depending on nature of tax. This includes filing quarterly 941s (Federal,) or state unemployment returns and/or state income tax reconciliation returns. Balances amount of tax deposited to total liability and determines if additional amount is due or to be refunded.
2. Prepares year-end reconciliations for federal or state/local tax authorities, which includes determining amount deposited during the year agrees to amount reported on W2s. Discrepancies are researched and resolved.
3. Maintains data within the FLS Tax and Year-End systems, including maintenance of tax deposit frequencies, rates, and identification numbers.
4. Researches and responds to inquiries from the field and tax authorities. This includes researching issues that may ultimately lead to amended returns, additional deposits, and/or penalties being assessed
5. Reconciles, researches, and resolves discrepancies for tax liability account;
6. Performs other special projects, duties and responsibilities as requested by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Position requires knowledge normally acquired through completion of high school plus 3-4 years of payroll tax and/or Human Resource experience to include an understanding of wage and hour law, payroll tax, and federal/state/local regulations. Basic knowledge of accounting concepts is required. An Accounting degree is preferred but not required.
